  • Apprentice Grounds Operative

    Princethorpe College

    We are seeking an Apprentice Grounds Operative to join the Grounds team within our friendly and professional Estates Department. Working toward the Apprenticeship Standard Horticulture - Horticulture or Landscape Operative Level 2, ideally starting in January 2025.

    This is an exciting opportunity to develop under the leadership of the experienced Grounds Manager, with a route for further progression in future. Duties range from pitch and grass preparation, machinery maintenance, gardening, landscaping and tree-care whilst also supporting the daily operations of the schools and delivering specific projects.

    This is a practical role facilitating the proper functioning of the schools to ensure a safe and high-quality working, learning and recreational environment. Successful applicants will want to provide a class-leading service to staff, pupils and visitors and be enthusiastic, honest, trustworthy and reliable. They must be physically fit and enjoy working on their own as well as part of a team. The successful applicant will be provided with a range of initial and ongoing Health and Safety and skill development training.

    This is a full-time, 37.5-hour a week role working generally 8.00am to 4.30pm with an hour’s unpaid break, Monday to Friday. However, due to the nature of the role, there is a requirement to occasionally work outside normal working hours and these hours can be claimed as time off in lieu. This is a fixed term contract initially.

    This is a Foundation wide role, based at Princethorpe College with occasional duties at The Crescent and Crackley Hall Schools.

    The salary for this role is initially £10 per hour.

Opportunities at Princethorpe College

  • Exam Invigilators – to assist in the smooth running of internal and public examinations
  • SEND support staff – for in-class, small group and one-to-one work with pupils
  • Cover Teaching Staff – being part of a team available for short-term and long-term supply work
  • Games Coaching – to assist with our wide-ranging sports programme
