David Hopwood From MADE Talks To Our A-level Designers
David Hopwood from Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE) visited the College on Thursday 6 March to talk to our A-level Textiles and Product Design students.
The visit was arranged by our Fashion Design Prefect, Amaanya Bose, and began with David sharing his experiences in the industry and his journey to his dream job working in automotive design.
David spoke about emotional connection with design and gave a detailed insight into MADE’s design philosophy, which centres around responsible design, with products being manufactured from recycled materials and being designed to be recyclable. He discussed and presented a range of sustainable materials and explained how these are implemented into the BE6, the new car under design from Mahindra.
The session offered excellent insights into career opportunities in the industry and provided plenty of real-world examples that the students can use in their exam answers. The visit was rounded off with a set of challenging questions from our A-level designers.
Many thanks to David for taking the time to talk to our students and for providing such a fascinating insight into the world of automotive design.
