Princethorpe Hosts Primary School Netball Tournament

12 Mar

The College welcomed seven Warwickshire primary schools to Princethorpe’s High 5 Netball Tournament on Tuesday 11 March.

Teams from Barford St Peter's CofE Primary, Bilton CofE Junior, Long Itchington CofE Primary, Paddox Primary, St Lawrence Primary, St Mary's Catholic Primary and The Croft Prep School had the chance to test their skills against their opponents in a round-robin of matches. The tournament was played to England Netball High 5 rules; a popular entry format of the traditional game that has players rotating positions and ensures the ball keeps moving.

Matches were umpired by Princethorpe’s Sports Leaders and staff, and you could see the children’s skills developing game by game as they gained experience and took on board feedback and suggestions.

Congratulations to The Croft Prep School who were the overall winners of the tournament. Well done also to St Lawrence Primary and Paddox Primary who came second and third.

Primary Schools Sports Liaison, Hannah Carminati, said, “It was great to welcome everyone to Princethorpe and to be able to offer these young players the chance to play in a fun and friendly netball tournament. All the pupils were so enthusiastic; I saw lots of great ball work, tremendous teamwork and plenty of energy on the courts today.”

A huge well done to all and many thanks to the College pupils and staff who organised and officiated all the games.

Our next Primary Schools sports tournament is our U10 Football Tournament, which takes place on Monday 12 May.
