Princethorpe College

Why Your Support Matters

Your contributions make a real difference. Here’s how your donation can help:

  • Widening Access: Your support enables us to offer bursaries and scholarships, ensuring that children from all backgrounds can attend our schools.
  • Improving Facilities: From upgrading our sports facilities to preserving the heritage of our historic buildings, your donations help enhance the learning environment for every pupil.
  • Enhancing the Pupil Experience: Contributions fund academic programs, extracurricular activities, and support services that enrich our pupils’ educational journey.
How Your Donation Benefits You

Donating to us is not only an investment in the future of our pupils, but it can also bring tax benefits that make your generosity more impactful.

Gift Aid: Make Your Donation Go Further

If you're a UK taxpayer, we can claim 25% on top of your donation through Gift Aid at no extra cost to you. This means that for every £1 you donate, we can claim an additional 25p from HMRC, making your gift worth £1.25 at no additional cost to you.

Tax Efficiency for Higher Rate Taxpayers

For those who pay higher-rate taxes, your donation is even more tax-efficient. If you pay tax at the higher rate, you can claim back the difference between the higher rates of tax (40% or 45%) and the basic rate (20%) on the total value of your donation.

Donation Amount Gift Aid Reclaimed (25%) Total Value of Donation Cost to Basic - Rate Taxpayer (20%) Cost to Higher Rate Taxpayer (40%) Cost to Additional-Rate Taxpayer (45%)
£100 £25 £125 £100 £75 £68.75
£250 £62.50 £312.50 £250 £187.50 £171.88
£500 £125 £625 £500 £375 £343.75
£1,000 £250 £1,250 £1,00 £750 £687.50
£2,500 £625 £3,125 £2,500 £1,875 £1,718.75
£5,000 £1,250 £6,250 £5,000 £3,750 £3,437.50

For example, if you pay the 40% rate, a donation of £100 allows you to reclaim £25, meaning the donation effectively costs you just £75, but the Foundation receives £125. If you pay the 45% rate, a donation of £100 allows you to reclaim £31.25, so the donation costs you only £68.75, while the Foundation receives £125.

In short, your donation can be 50% more tax-efficient than receipt of school fees, helping us keep the cost of education as low as possible for current and future pupils.
